There is a self service check-in to Caesars's Palace which is great except that it wasn't working so I joined the line.

They didn't have my non-smoking room. I pressed the issue. Really, in a hotel this big, there isn't a single non smoking room?

I was told I could have a dog-friendly room. Thinking that dog friendly was better than a room reeking of smoke and that people would clean up after dogs, I went for it.

Turns out, it was smoking AND dog friendly. I immediately called down to try again but no luck. I had to wait until 11 am the next morning. As predicted, no issues with dog smells but really hated the stale cigarette smell.

I am thankful that most hotels are now non-smoking. I travelled a really long way and spent a lot of money for this conference.

I want a room that smells fresh and clean. That's what I paid for. My first room was in the Augustus tower.

Big room. Big spa bath. Nice big bed. Had everything I needed. Didn't love the decor, but what I expected from Vegas. There was a coffee maker in the room which I wanted to use to make tea.

But it required capsules. Never mind, I can walk to Starbucks. This place is huge. I was there for a conference and there was a really long walk to the conference center.

I spent my lunch break hiking to the lobby, getting a new room. Hiking to old room, getting my stuff. Hike to new room, drop off stuff, hike to conference center.

Shame I don't have a Fitbit but I can assure you it was a time consuming process. There wasn't a Business Center where I could print out the boarding pass.

I went down to the lobby the night before I left to print it out and they said to go to the concierge which was closed. Came back the next day and they printed it.

There was free wifi in the room but it was ridiculously slow and I couldn't send emails. I could have paid for faster wifi but I was only in the room for a few hours.

So I hiked over to the conference center where I had a wifi password and a fast enough connection. The pools looked amazing but I couldn't believe how early they closed.

I trekked to the pool area the night I arrived hoping for a nice swim in the dark. All closed up. So I checked the website, 6pm?

I got a quick swim in after the conference the next day. They didn't seem to close the doors right at six pm - I don't know when they actually closed.

I didn't go back to check later. It's a big place, maybe there is a pool somewhere that is open at night but I didn't find it. When I go on vacation, I like to go for a swim at night.
